CLRI signs MoU with UK university
Chennai: The Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) has signed a memorandum
of understanding with the University of Northampton, UK, for exchange of
student and faculty, joint educational programmes and research. Speaking
here at the 59th Foundation day celebrations of CLRI, the Research Council
Chairman, Mr S. Ramachandran, said more than 30 per cent of leather` scientists
in the world have been associated with CLRI at some point of their career.
"CLRI was making deep inroads into the study of medical uses of leather,
leather products and the uses of leather for decorative purposes. It has
also been excelling in marketing its products abroad," he said. The institute
has contributed to nearly 7-9 per cent of the international leather patents
and holds a 30 per cent share in publications in high impact journals all
over the world, the CLRI Director, Mr T. Ramasami, said.
