I have attended a number of seminars, conferences, meetings organised by various organisations like IASLIC, ILA, SIS, NISSAT, CSIR, DRDO, few Universities like Bangalore, Karnataka and Mysore.  Presented good number of papers, chaired few sessions, delivered Keynote / Lead Lectures and worked as Repporteur General.

      i.        Fulbright Fellowship in L&IS (1995-96).

     ii.        Creation of Library Database (OPAC – 2.8 lakh records) and Bar-coding of documents.

   iii.        Creation of Portal “AeroInfo” for Aerospace community.

    iv.        Automation of all Library House Keeping Activities.

     v.        Web/E-mail based Information Services.

    vi.        Popularisation of Internet in the Laboratory.

  vii.        Popularisation of CD-ROM Technology in the country.

 viii.        Regrouping and reallocation of duties of ICAST Staff for better productivity.

   ix.        Role played in enhancement (4 times)of ICAST budget.

    x.        A number of Meetings/Conferences/Workshops organised.

   xi.        Effective Inter Library Cooperation.

 xii.        Formation of Consortia for Accessing Electronic Information Sources.

xiii.        More than 100 Invited Lectures delivered.

xiv.        Initiative for First Meeting of Heads of CSIR libraries.

  xv.        Preparation of a Report on “Manpower and Management Issues of CSIR Library and Information Centres” and presentation at CSIR Head Quarters.

xvi.        Role played for Silver Jubilee Celebrations of NAL Kannada Samskritika Sangha as its President and organized Vigyana Sammelana and other activities.

xvii.        Member of Board of Studies, Dept. of L & I S, University of Mysore.

I believe that it is proper planning and approach that puts us in  perspective.  But honest and sincere work pays rich dividends in everybody’s life.  Team work and appropriate delegation of power are key factors in managing an organization effectively.  This approach of mine helped us a lot in getting good recognition for our Information Centre (ICAST).  Now we are in a position to boast that ICAST is  comparable to any advanced Information Centre in the world especially in terms of modernization, maintenance and services. Responsibility towards my organization gets top priority.
