India may launch 2 Russian satellites
Sriharikota: In what looks like an indication of increased Indo-Russian space
cooperation, India may launch two Russian satellites in the next two years.
The satellites, according to a Russian engineer at Sriharikota, could be
of the three-tonne category and may be launched in September 2007 and February
2008.
He also said they are contemplating the matter, but no proposals or agreement
between the two countries have been made yet. “India may or may not launch
the satellites. We’re considering it but have made no agreement.”
ISRO officials said nothing could be said at this stage unless Glavkosmos
issues an official statement with regard to having two Russian satellites
launched by India.
