sub: Derwent Innovations Index for patents...
The access to Derwent Innovations Index (DII), a product of WoS has been set up at NAL.
The General search option facilitates to search for patents that cite an inventor, patent number, assignee or Derwent accession number.
Advanced search for searches using complex queries including field tags and set combinations
Compound search for compounds using chemical structures, compound names and molecular formulas.
Open saved search opens up a previously saved search.

IP enabled access to Web of Science(http://isiknowledge.com) - Science Citation Index Expanded (from 1987 to Current) has been set up at NAL.
Salient Features of WoS SCI:
Quick search: Single term search with Boolean operators (And, Or, Not) and Truncation characters ((* ? $)
General Search: for records by topic, author name, source title, and author address
Cited Reference Search: for articles that cite other works that you select from the citation index
Structure Search: for chemical compounds and reactions
Advanced Search: to Create complex searches using field tags and set combinations
Open Saved Search: Search for records by opening a previously saved search history file

sub: Access to ACM Digital Library (Journals +)
Access to complete ACM (Associating Computing Machinary) Digital Collection has been set up for NAL. The ACM Digital Library is a vast collection of citations and full texts from ACM journal and newsletter articles and conference proceedings.
It covers Journals(6), Magazines(10), Transactions(26), Special Interest Group (SIG) Newsletters(57), Conference Proceeding Series(248), and Publications by affiliated organizations(22).
You can browse the contents, search using keywords, authors, etc using Advanced Search Facility or simple basic search using any word or phrase in the search box.
How to access:

Search:
# Basic Search: On the Digital Library main page, type your word or phrase into the text box. The search engine searches on each word individually as well as on the whole phrase. Put quotations (" ") around the phrase to search the exact phrase.
# Advanced Search: On the Advanced Search screen, use the fields provided to conduct your search based on specific criteria, such as a key word or phrase, author, ISBN or ISSN. Customize your search by specifying month and year the item was published; item type; or ACM Computing Classification (CCS) term. Use these fields independently or combine them.
Personalization:
Setting up an ACM Web account is free for both ACM members or non-members. With the Web account you establish your username and password, the main entry points to access table-of-contents alerts, binders, and other ACM services. ICAST is pleased to inform you that access to Scopus has been set up at NAL until 10 February 2007.
Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database.
It covers: Over 15,000 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers, including coverage of:
o 500 Open Access journals
o 700 Conference Proceedings
o 600 Trade Publications
o 125 Book Series
o 28 million abstract records
o 245 million references, added to all abstracts

sub: E -Journals Users Training Workshop by Representatives of Publishers :20-21 Sept 2006
As you are aware, ICAST has provided online access to >4000 journals of 13 reputed publishers viz., Elsevier, Springer, Cambridge, Wiley, Oxford, Taylor & Francis, RCS, ACS, ASME, ASCE, Emerald, Blackwell, etc in collaboration with CSIR e-journals consortia including 5 -10 years back files.
As part of the nation-wide Usage Promotion Programmes organised by CSIR/ NISCAIR, New Delhi, a One and half Day Programme is scheduled to be held on 20th & 21st September 2006. During the workshop, the representatives of different publishers will familarize about their content, the search techniques, and personalized swevices facilitating quick and easy access to the research material of your interest. The scientists can create their profile through publishers' website for automatic e mail alerts indicating new article/articles published in the users' area of interest.
The programme will include Presentations-cum-interactive sessions by the following Publishers' representatives and the officials from NISCAIR and the workshop is arranged at ICAST seminar hall (Room No. 326).

Sub: Microfiche Scanner/Digitizer...
We are happy to announce the procurement of a Microfiche Scanner/Digitizer recently at ICAST. As you are aware, our center has an exhaustive collection of very useful and important reports in microfiche form, like AIAA papers prior to 1997, NPS thesis, U S Federal Govt. Reports and many more from Academic and Government institutions in the world. NAL scientists can avail this facility to get the soft copies of the microfiches on request either through e mail attachments or downloaded on CD's/floppies etc. Please contact ICAST staff at 6086/6083/6085 for this service.

Launching of new Website and Services of ICAST on 23rd July 2005 by NAL Director Dr. A R Upadhya. The new ICAST website, improvised from its earlier version launched six years back provides detailed information about its exhaustive resources both in print and electronic forms.
